The city holds many thermal steam baths and the best way to meet the inhabitants is actually to go to one of the thermal pools or spas. The city is vibrant of energy and despite the modest size, only 185 000 inhabitants, it has an impressive cultural scene with festivals, exhibitions and ongoing events. Reykjavik has a reputation to be a trend setting city, and the supply of excellent shops and designer outlets is impressive.
The closeness to nature makes the possibilities of activities and events such as midnight golf, whale watching, glacier trekking and fishing immense.
The Icelandic people are very friendly and proud of their city as well as the Icelandic language that still holds the heritage from the Vikings, more than the other Scandinavian languages.
